Seasons
Spring on the Burren arrives quietly — gentians in the grikes, light loosening over the limestone. These are the weeks I paint fastest, before the colour settles into memory.
I painted this looking down at the pavement rather than out at the view — the limestone cracked into its clints and grykes, with gentians pushing up impossibly blue against all that grey. It's a habit of mine, stopping mid-walk to look at what's under my feet rather than the horizon.
Oil and cold wax on panel. Framed size 48 × 38cm. Part of my Rockscapes series.
Mounted prints are available, ranging in price from €60 to €170 depending on size — see the Prints collection or get in touch.
