Gentian Summer

I painted this looking down at the pavement rather than out at the view. The limestone cracked into its clints and grykes, with gentians pushing up impossibly blue against all that grey. It's a habit of mine, stopping mid-walk to look at what's under my feet rather than at the horizon.
