Seasons
Spring on the Burren arrives quietly — gentians in the grikes, light loosening over the limestone. These are the weeks I paint fastest, before the colour settles into memory.
Small in scale, immense in atmosphere. This intimate 14×20 cm work captures a quieter, more luminous face of the Burren — oil and cold wax on Fabriano paper, layered to evoke the soft purple haze that settles over the limestone hills at dusk. The cold wax lends the surface a silken, geological depth, while the oil pigments bloom with a warmth that is unmistakably west of Ireland.
Part of the Rockscapes series — a body of work exploring the ancient, elemental character of stone, landscape, and time.
