Some news from our quiet corner: I'm having an exhibition, and not on my own.
I live in a rural townland in south Galway, in the foothills of the Slieve Aughtys, and I'm lucky in my neighbours. On our road live two artists who are very good friends of mine, Leonie McEvoy and Fabiano Mulas, and we've long been in the habit of swapping encouragement and honest opinions, in roughly equal measure.
Back in January I suggested we stop talking about it and aim for a late summer show of work. The three of us know ourselves well enough by now: unless there's a date in the diary, not a great deal actually gets finished. Fabiano has a space on his property that we've been quietly converting, and we're calling it The Shed, so the venue rather chose itself.
We open on Saturday 29 August at 6pm, and the work stays up for a week afterwards. We've decided to keep it intimate: an invitation only evening rather than an open door. In truth the three of us would rather have real conversations than a crowd.
So if you'd like to come, send me a message and I'll get an invitation to you. Come for the paintings, stay for the company. There are three of us, so the odds of good conversation are decent.
I'll be sharing the work over the next few weeks: what I'm framing, and a look at The Shed as it turns into a gallery. The prints are in from the printer and framed, ready to go home with you on the night.
